From an Intelligent Creator to Jesus

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Divine Revelation
    :
    (n.): God’s communication of Himself, by which He makes known the mystery of His divine plan by deeds and words over time, and most fully by sending His Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Messiah
    :
    Title given to the Savior God promised to the people of Israel. Hebrew for “anointed one.
  • Emmanuel
    :
    “God with us.” In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah gave a prophecy that the coming Messiah would be born to a virgin and she would name Him Emmanuel.
  • Agapē
    :
    The unconditional sacrificial love of God for human beings. It is the highest form of love. Also called charity. Greek for “good will.”
  • Storge
    :
    Affectionate love, or enjoying someone or something. Greek for “affection.”
  • Philia
    :
    Brotherly love, or the love between friends. Greek for “brotherly love.”
  • Eros
    :
    Romantic or passionate love. Greek for “passion” or “desire.”
  • Empathy
    :
    The act of understanding and sharing in the feelings of others, particularly their sadness and suffering.
