■ Understand Aristotle’s three artistic proofs, and how they are used in rhetoric: Ethos, or the character and credibility of the
speaker. Logos, or the speaker’s use of logic (or what seems to be logic). Pathos, or the speaker’s appeal to the audience’s emotion.
■ Assess the use of the three artistic proofs in various examples.
■ Compose simple persuasive statements employing the three artistic proofs.
