Lesson 22

Misunderstandings About Suffering

In this chapter your students will learn that…
■ Jesus reveals to us with the Parable of the Prodigal Son that God is a merciful Father who loves us unconditionally.
■ God does not seek to punish us for sin: Original Sin or personal sin.
■ God may cause suffering directly if it is for our salvation and does not interfere with our freedom.
■ Because God’s power and wisdom are infinite and we are not, we are unable to fully understand His ways and must learn that trust must always be the basis of our relationship with God.
