The Paschal Mystery

The Paschal Mystery refers to Christ’s Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension, which saved us from sin and death for new life as sons and daughters of God.

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Paschal Mystery
    :
    (n.): Christ’s work of redemption accomplished by His Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension.
  • Sheol
    :
    (n.): The Hebrew word for Hell, or the dwelling place of all the dead before Christ’s Resurrection.
  • Easter Sunday
    :
    (n.): The greatest and oldest Christian feast, which celebrates Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead on the third day after His Death on the Cross.
  • The Resurrection
    :
    (n.): The bodily rising of Jesus from the dead on the third day afrer His Death on the Cross and burial in the tomb. The Resurrection of Christ is the crowning truth of our faith in Christ.
  • The Ascension
    :
    (n.): Jesus’ return to Heaven in His glorified body that occured 40 days after His Resurrection. There He is seated at the right hand of the Father in all His glory.
