Lesson 3

Serve One Another

Every vocation must be lived in communion with others because it is a sign of God’s love and mercy towards us.

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Theological Virtues
    :
(n.): Gifts infused by God into the souls of the faithful to make them capable of acting as His children and meriting eternal life. They are faith, hope, and charity (or love).
  • Sacraments at the Service of Communion
    :
(n.): Sacraments oriented toward the salvation of others: Marriage (spouses serve one another and help each other get to Heaven) and Holy Orders (a priest, bishop, or deacon serves his flock and helps them get to Heaven).
  • Sanctifying Grace
    :
(n.): The free and undeserved gift of a share in God’s own life. It is a stable disposition, which means we remain in a state of grace unless we lose the divine life through mortal sin. We first receive sanctifying grace at Baptism, it is strengthened through the other Sacraments, and restored through the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation.
