Divine Revelation

God has revealed Himself to us in a direct and personal way, which we call divine revelation.

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Covenant
    :
    (n.): A sacred permanent bond of family relationship. God entered into a series of covenants with His People throughout Salvation History to invite us to be part of His divine family and to prepare us gradually and in stages, and in words and deeds, to receive the gift of salvation.
  • Israel
    :
    (n.): Hebrew word meaning “He who strives with God.” God changed Jacob’s name to Israel after he wrestled with an angel. God’s Chosen People became known as the People of Israel.
  • Patriarchs
    :
    (n.): The fathers of the People of Israel: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
  • Pentateuch
    :
    The Greek name for the first five books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. Also known as the Books of Moses. (72)
