At Every Mass, the Priest Acts in the Person of Christ

Transubstantiation is the theological term used to describe the miraculous change of the gifts of bread and wine into Jesus’ Body and Blood.

    :
    Substance is what a thing is.
  • Accidentals
    :
    Characteristics of a thing that are not essential to that thing, such as color, shape, smell, taste, what something looks like, and even what something is made of. In the transubstantiation of the Eucharist, the accidentals of the bread and wine remain unchanged, but the bread and wine truly and substantially become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
  • Transubstantiation
    :
    A transformation of substance. It is the word used to describe the changing of the bread and wine during Mass into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. (1413)
