Jesus’ Life, Passion, Death, and Resurrection

The Paschal Mystery is how Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection saved us from sin and death for new life as sons and daughters of God.

Day 1 & 2 & 3

Kingdom of Heaven (Kingdom of God): God’s reign or rule over all things. During His public ministry, Jesus proclaimed that the Kingdom of God was at hand. The Church is the seed, or beginning, of the Kingdom here on earth. The Kingdom will be fulfilled in Heaven. (1060, 1725, 1726, 2556, 2857)
Gospel: “Good News.” The four books by the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John that are the heart of the Scriptures. They proclaim the Good News of salvation won for us by the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Gospels are our primary source of knowledge of life of Jesus Christ. (139, 849, 1982)

Crucifixion: A form of punishment used by the Romans where a person is nailed to a cross to hang until he dies. Jesus suffered crucifixion and died on the Cross to save us from sin.
Resurrection: The Resurrection is the crowning truth of the Christian Faith that Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day after His Death on the Cross.
Ascension: The Ascension is Jesus’ return to Heaven in His glorified body 40 days after His Resurrection. In Heaven, He is seated at the right hand of the Father in all His glory.
