Penance and Reconciliation is the Sacrament by which our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled to God and His Church.

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Contrition
    :
A form of prayer in which we have true sorrow for our sins and ask for God’s mercy and forgiveness. (2644)
  • Conversion
    :
Turning away from sin and returning to God. It is the first step in the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. We recognize all that we have done to hurt our heavenly Father and are truly sorry for our actions. The examination of conscience can aid us in recognizing our faults. (1486, 1490)
