Workshop Overview

Explore the limitless of God’s mercy throughout Salvation History and how you can help your students integrate the corporal and spiritual works of mercy into their lives. You’ll learn how God’s mercy is revealed in His covenants and how they are ultimately fulfilled and through Jesus Christ.

This Workshop blends scholar presentations with interactive pedagogical sessions, giving you a chance to explore content with a respected scholar, as well as explore and simulate practical teaching strategies with ready-to-use classroom materials. Share best practices and enjoy catered breakfast and lunch with your fellow Diocese of Wilmington teachers and catechists.

Jose Gonzalez

Jose Gonzalez joined the team at Sophia Institute for Teachers in 2014 after more than 10 years as a Catholic high school teacher. In addition to teaching, Jose has experience working in parish and diocesan ministry. Jose has been leading Workshops in over 70 dioceses for 10 years, and contributes regularly to our teacher’s guides and digital instructional resources. He has a BA in theology with a concentration in religious education from Franciscan University of Steubenville, and an MA in evangelization and catechesis from the Augustine Institute. Jose and his wife, Mary Beth, have four children.

Matthew Ramage

Dr. Matthew Ramage is Professor of Theology at Benedictine College where he is co-director of its Center for Integral Ecology. Dr. Ramage’s research and writing focuses especially on the theology of Pope Benedict XVI, the wedding of ancient and modern approaches to biblical interpretation, the dialogue between faith and science, and stewardship of creation. In addition to his other scholarly and outreach endeavors, Dr. Ramage is author, co-author, or translator of over fifteen books, including Christ’s Church and World Religions from Sophia Institute Press. His latest book is From the Dust of the Earth: Benedict XVI, the Bible, and the Theory of Evolution, published by Catholic University of America Press. Dr. Ramage lives in Atchison, Kansas with his wife, Jen, and their seven children. For more on Dr. Ramage’s work, visit his website www.matthewramage.com.
