Spirit of Truth, High School

Course II

Overview

This course introduces students to the Blessed Trinity in and through the fullness of God’s revelation of Himself: Jesus Christ. They will study the Incarnation, the union of Christ’s two natures, Jesus as the exemplar of humanity, as well as the unique role of Mary, the mother of God.

Units

1Faith

You are called to a personal relationship with God. God has invited all of us to a close, intimate relationship with Himself. In Unit 1, we are going to look at faith, which is our acceptance of God's invitation. Through faith, we learn to know God.

2God and Revelation

God has revealed Himself to us throughout human history. He has made Himself known indirectly in the things He has made, creation itself. He has also directly revealed Himself to us, which is transmitted to us today through Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scriptures. In this unit, you will learn about God's revelation of Himself, our response of faith to Him, and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

3Jesus Christ's Revelation about God

Faith, as we have seen, is our response to God's invitation to enter into a relationship with Him and become His disciple. Ultimately, it is an encounter with Jesus Christ. In Unit 3, we will discuss what Jesus Christ reveals to us about God, who is a Trinity of Persons. Through Jesus we come to know more intimately the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus is at the very center of our relationship with God.

4Jesus Christ Teaches Us about Ourselves

The central message of Christ's public ministry is, "This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." Our time on earth is meant to prepare us to enter into the Kingdom of God. Jesus Himself is our roadmap to holiness. When we keep His Commandments, we will be set free to do what is good and holy and, ultimately, to reach our final destination, which is heaven.
