Lesson 1

I Believe

The aim of the first part of this lesson is for your children to learn what faith is and to begin to think about their faith in God. In the second part of the lesson, your children learn that the Church has summarized the great mysteries of our Faith in the Apostles’ Creed.

Lesson Vocabulary

  • Believe
    :
    To accept as the truth.
  • Trust
    :
    To rely on someone.
  • Faith
    :
Faith is both a gift from God and man’s response to God by believing in Him, the truth He has made known to us, and the way of living we are invited to by the Church.
  • Theological Virtues

  • Creed
    :
A brief summary or profession of our Christian Faith, such as the Nicene Creed and the Apostles' Creed.
  • Apostles' Creed
    :
A prayer that summarizes the essential beliefs of our Catholic Faith. We pray the Apostles Creed during the Rosary while holding the crucifix.
