Lesson 4: Respect for Life, from the Unborn to the Elderly
Respecting life means recognizing the dignity of every person.
Respecting life means recognizing the dignity of every person.
When God created us, He gave us rules to help us stay safe and happy.
As the Father loves Jesus, Jesus loves us, and Jesus wants us to love each other.
We have a responsibility to care for our bodies, including our thoughts, because our bodies are holy and we are called by God to holiness.
Following these rules does not bind us; rather, following rules bring us closer to embracing the likeness of God in ourselves and in others.
The Ten Commandments state the requirements to love God and our neighbor.
The Fourth Commandment is “Honor your father and mother.”
The Sacraments of Initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
The first three commandments are the fundamental requirements for loving God.
If we love God, we will take care of His creation.
Through Moses, God leads the Israelites to freedom from slavery in Egypt by parting the waters of the Red Sea and destroying Pharaoh’s army.
The fourth through sixth commandments teach us to honor our parents, all human life, and be pure and modest in our behavior.
Jesus gave us the two Great Commandments, and He calls us to live by them.
Jesus is the truth, and He manifests the whole of God’s truth.
The seventh through tenth commandments teach us to respect what belongs to others, tell the truth, and not desire things which belong to others.
