God created us as male and female in His image and, united together in marriage, man and woman become an icon, or symbol, of the eternal exchange of love that He is as Trinity. Marriage goes back to the very origins of humanity with the first man and first woman. Jesus began His public ministry at a wedding, announcing Himself publicly to be God’s promised Savior. He raised marriage to be a Sacrament, giving to spouses the grace to live as a unique reflection of God’s love and to build a strong and loving family.
