As we learn this year about love as self-gift, this lesson focuses on how God calls His sons and daughters to make a lifelong gift of ourselves to others, in imitation of Jesus. Jesus gave His life for His Bride, the Church. In turn, we each live out our call to holiness by devoting our lives to others in the permanent, vowed state of life to which God calls us: ordained priesthood, consecrated life, or marriage. The Church, too, invites all the faithful to live the Evangelical Counsels to resist sinful temptations.
