Chapter 3: Redemption Is Mediated Through the Seven Sacraments
Through the Sacraments, Jesus heals us of the effects of sin and transforms us to be more like Himself.
Through the Sacraments, Jesus heals us of the effects of sin and transforms us to be more like Himself.
The universal call to holiness is the vocation of every human person; God calls each of us to be holy as He is holy, that is, to be saints.
In this lesson your children explore the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. In this Sacrament, our sins are forgiven and we are reconciled to God and His Church through the confession of those sins and acts of penance. We are also strengthened by this Sacrament to avoid sin in the future.
The aim of this lesson is for your children to understand that God is merciful. Your children will be able to explain the “special grace” from God that we receive during the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. They will also see the relationship between Jesus’ healing and the Church’s continuation of this healing through the sacrament.
In this lesson your children explore the gateway to the Christian life: Baptism. In Baptism, your children were cleansed of the stain of Original Sin and became part of God’s family.
In a Sacrament, God uses something physical and from this world to do something supernatural from Heaven.
Marriage is the primordial sacrament in which the union of one man and one woman reveals an integral part of human nature that has been inscribed in our very bodies.
The Eucharist fulfills our Lord’s promise to give us Himself, the Bread of Life.
The scriptural basis, matter, form, minister, and effects of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Grace is the free, undeserved help that God gives us to respond to His call to become His adopted sons and daughters, and sharers in His divine and eternal life.
The Sacrament of Baptism is essential for salvation and is the ordinary means of salvation.
The sins of adultery, fornication, masturbation, and homosexual activity offend the unitive and procreative purposes of marriage and diminish the goods of marital love.
The Mass is a representation of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross.
The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ.
The Church is an enduring sign of salvation and is the very instrument of our salvation.
