The Holy Spirit, dwelling within us, gives us gifts to help guide us through life and ultimately achieve supernatural happiness.

  • Third Orders
    :
    (n.): Lay members of religious orders who do not necessarily live in community but participate in the works of the order.
  • Oblates
    :
    (n.): Lay persons united to a religious order by a rule of life but who do not live within the community.
  • Gifts of the Holy Spirit
    :
    (n.): Seven gifts of grace given to us by God at our Baptism and again in Confirmation that help us respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in our lives. They are wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.
  • Fruits of the Spirit
    :
    (n.): Twelve perfections formed in us by living a holy life in cooperation with the Holy Spirit. They are: charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity.
  • Prayer
    :
    (n.): The raising one's mind and heart to God in praise of His glory, asking for some desired good, giving thanks, or asking for His blessing on others. A relationship with God.
  • Adoration
    :
    (n.): The form of prayer in which we worship God and express our love for Him.
  • Petition
    :
    (n.): The form of prayer in which we ask God for our own needs.
  • Intercession
    :
    (n.): Prayer for the needs of others.
  • Thanksgiving
    :
    (n.): The form of prayer in which we express our gratitude for the blessings God has given us.
  • Meditation
    :
    (n.): A form of mental prayer in which we focus our minds - our thoughts, imagination, feelings, and desires - on discerning what God wants for us.
  • Contemplative Prayer
    :
    (n.): A type of prayer in which we simply be in God’s presence. It is a simple expression of the mystery of prayer: a gaze of faith fixed on Jesus, an attentiveness to the Word of God, a silent love.
