Lesson 33: Prayer
Prayer is how we talk to God.
Prayer is how we talk to God.
Prayer is a battle, and Scripture provides guidance for how to triumph.
The Church teaches that prayer is simply a conversation with God, a raising of the mind and heart to Him.
The Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints serve as models of prayer, and we can ask them to pray for us.
The Lord’s Prayer encompasses everything that can and must be said to the Father.
The Lord is always the initiator in our relationship with Him. God calls man first, and man’s first response is prayer.
As Catholics, we are called to build the Kingdom of God here on Earth.
The five forms, or types, of prayer are blessing and adoration, praise, petition, intercession, and thanksgiving.
The Our Father is the perfect prayer.
Prayer comes from our heart, where we encounter God and enter into a conversation with Him.
The Holy Spirit, dwelling within us, gives us gifts to help guide us through life and ultimately achieve supernatural happiness.
The members of the Church are called to be missionary disciples who know why their faith is important and are able to express that to those around them in word and deed.
Through the Sacraments, Jesus heals us of the effects of sin and transforms us to be more like Himself.
Prayer can be expressed both visually and mentally, since both involve a conversation with God.
There are six different forms of prayer: blessing, adoration, petition, intercession, thanksgiving, and praise.
