Lesson 2

Exploring the Sacrament of Confirmation with Sacred Art

Christ’s promise of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles.
Filled by the Spirit, Mary and the Apostles proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ to all the nations.
The Sacrament of Confirmation makes the baptized more perfectly bound to the Church and enriches them with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.
A dove, fire, wind, water, a pillar of cloud, and anointing with oil are all symbols of the Holy Spirit.
