God blessed Joseph with success in his work despite his rejection, persecution, and suffering. Through Joseph’s story we learn that God can bring good out of evil. Joseph is a type of Jesus Christ.
Joshua, a foreshadowing of Christ, led Israel in fulfilling what Moses could not, but as faithfulness faded, God appointed judges to restore right worship, yet Israel still demanded a king, leading to Saul’s failed reign due to his disobedience.
In the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation, God marks each of us with a permanent spiritual mark on our souls that sets us apart as belonging to Him, points us toward Heaven, and gives us a share in Christ’s mission, which is the salvation of all souls.
Students hear and reflect on a beautiful musical setting of the Regina Caeli, written by the Spanish composer, Tomás Luis de Victoria (ca. 1548–1611).
Scripture often uses the image of a mother’s love as a way to illustrate the depth of God’s nurturing love for each of us. This image has been made all the more powerful by the miracle of the Incarnation.
Though we cannot and should not mentally limit the grace of God to a physical place, the sacramentality of our Faith reinforces the importance of place in our public worship of God.
These are trying times. COVID-19 has greatly affected our nation, and our government has advised the practice of social distancing, and in some cases quarantining, in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus.
