The Last Supper was the last meal shared between Jesus and His Apostles on the night before He died on the Cross. Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper.
Eucharist
:
The Eucharist is the Sacrament in which we receive the true Body and Blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearances of bread and wine. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Christian life. It is spiritual food for the soul.
Mass
:
The Mass is the liturgical celebration and memorial of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and Resurrection from the dead.
Transubstantiation
:
Transubstantiation is the word used to describe the change of the bread and wine at Mass into the Body and Blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ.
Memorial
:
A memorial is a way of remembering the past. The word remember means “to make present again.” In the Eucharist, Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross is made present to us again.
Liturgy
:
Liturgy is the public worship of the Church. It is the participation of the People of God in the “work of God,” our salvation from sin.
